A.K.A - "The Captain"
Captain Curt was born and raised in the swamps of New Jersey. Therefore,
the one strike against the Captain is that he's a Yankees fan...good Lord!
Curt, early on in his musical career, played the wedding band circuit.
Curt was soon fired from his gig when he pulled out a note-for-note rendition
of "War Pigs" during the bride-groom slow dance. He just could
not handle "Unchained Melody" yet again...he left screaming
in his frilly tuxedo.
When I first met Curt over 10 years ago, he wanted serious rock musicians
to play cool cover music. His song list weirdly included Huey Lewis, Elvis
Costello, and Elton John with a hint of the Stones, Doors, and Skynyrd.
I had to carefully tell the Captain that Huey and Elton WERE NOT too cool.
He also lost all hope for serious musicians when we jammed together at
a party in Rhode Island. It was the Captain on guitar and me (Animal)
on the drums and we basically blew the ears off of all the poor people
at the party. Saucy Jack, in some strange way, was born.
Curt steers the ship of the Saucy Jack. He is probably the only sober
person in the world that could handle such sauced up delinquents. Curt's
vocal style is very smooth. He does amazing covers
of Joe Cocker, John Lennon and Eric Clapton. Guitar wise, the Captain
is my Keith Richards (pronounced "Keef").
Curt = Big Toe.
